Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour more as needed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup water warmed to 110 degrees
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Make a well in the center of the mixture.
- 2. Pour the yeast into the well. Carefully pour the warm water over the yeast. Let the mixture sit until foamy, about 10 minutes.
- 3. Add the olive oil to the mixture and then stir with a rubber spatula until it comes together.
- 4. Dump the dough out onto a lightly floured counter. Knead the dough, incorporating enough of the bench flour to make a soft, not too sticky dough. This should take about 3 or 4 minutes.
- 5. Flour a spot for the dough to rest. Cut the dough into two pieces. Set the dough balls on the flour and then cover to rest for at least 10 minutes or as many as 40 minutes.
- 6. Roll out one dough ball to a 12-inch circle. Place on a cornmeal-dusted board with no sides. Top the pizza dough as desired; remember less is more.
- 7. Slide the pizza onto a preheated, 425 degree stone set in the middle of the oven. Bake until center of pizza is bubbly, about 10 minutes. Repeat with the other dough ball.
